My Textbook (Year 11 – Mathematics Standard [Pathway 2]) & Year 11 Assignments

The textbook that TAFE uses for their Year 11 Mathematics Standard course is New Century Maths, specifically Pathway 2.

The textbook is published by Nelson, a Cengage Company. The preface of the textbook states that it has been re-written for the new Mathematics Standard syllabus (2017) and that the syllabus describes two pathways for Mathematics Standard.
Pathway 1 is designed for students heading towards the workforce or further training after school, providing practical mathematics skills for life, whereas Pathway 2 is designed for students heading towards the HSC exam, ATAR (it was UAI when I high school, it changed to ATAR in 2009) and university studies.

There are 12 chapters in the New Century Maths – Mathematics Standard (Pathway 2) textbook:
- Collecting and Presenting Data
- Formulas and Equations
- Earning Money and Taxation
- Probability
- Measurement
- Managing a Home
- Linear Functions
- Interest and Depreciation
- Owning a Car
- Analysing Data
- World Locations and Time
- Driving Safely
The TAFE Year 11 Mathematics Standard course consists of five assignments on the content in the New Century Maths textbook, with three out of the five assignments (1, 3 and 5) making up my final grade.
