John Marsden Writing Topic #450
Write your memories of the birth of one of your siblings**
As I’m the youngest of two, I don’t have any memories of the birth of my older brother, Nath. So I will respond to this writing topic on my memories of my parents recounting Nath’s birth.
My memories of their recount are a little fuzzy, however I remember them telling me that mum was in labour for over 20 hours before Nath was born. She also had complications which lead to a C-Section. My dad was hysterical as he was aware something was wrong, he couldn’t do anything about it, and he felt that the doctors weren’t doing enough for my mum. According to my dad, my mum was too drugged up (on pain meds) to enjoy the birth experience and to do the immediate bonding with Nath, that she was able to do with me when I was born.
She still tells me about Nath’s birth from time to time when I have questions. Each time I ask I’m always learning something new.
