John Marsden Writing Topic #488
The last day**
The last day of school, November 13 2008, for me wasn’t overly memorable, however there are hints of the day that stick out to me. It wasn’t even a full day, I had two HSC exams on the last day of exams–society & culture and tourism. My last exam was scheduled in the middle of a hot afternoon and I wasn’t wearing my uniform, just casual clothes.
One thing that stuck out to me about the last day of school was the room where I would take my final exam. I sat my final exam in the very same room that I first stepped foot in, on my very first day five years earlier. I would end high school in the same place that I started it.
When the two hours were finally over, I put my pen down with euphoria. I was relieved that it was all over, my hand no longer hunched over a small plastic pen, literally working to the bone. I walked out of the school gates content with the end of my high school journey, pleased that I managed to end it on a full circle and ready for the next chapter of my life.
