John Marsden Writing Topic #318

Write a poem explaining how difficult it is to live your life**

Not Closed

I don’t have a closed mind,

I don’t have a closed heart,

I’m just trying to do everything right,

I’m just trying to live this life.

I don’t have a closed mind,

I don’t have a closed heart,

I’m just trying to survive the daily grind:

work hard, make a living,

pay my bills, stand on my own two feet,

so I don’t end up on the street.

I don’t have a closed mind,

I don’t have a closed heart,

I’m just trying to gain peace of mind,

not let stress or anxiety run my life.

I don’t have a closed mind,

I don’t have a closed heart,

I’m just trying to find the right guy,

who can look me in the eye

and say

‘I love you on the outside and the inside,

I want you to share my life and be my wife!’

I don’t have a closed mind,

I don’t have a closed heart,

I’m just trying to do everything right,

I’m just trying to live my life.
