John Marsden Writing Topic #425
Describe a how a broken promise had a strong effect on you**
I’ve never really had anyone break promises on me, however the closest I’ve ever experienced to that is when two men I dated (not at the same time) told me that they wanted to stay friends with me when we stopped dating. One of them, who I was in a serious relationship with, never became my friend. The other man seemed to be a good friend, only to change his mind a few months later when he started dating someone new.
I felt like an idiot, not to mention humiliated and lied to. I didn’t understand why they would say that they’re interested in being friends with me if they weren’t going to make the effort or didn’t mean it. I felt that they should have just told me the truth instead of giving me false hope.
I’ve certainly learnt my lesson.
