John Marsden Writing Topic #328

Write a poem about something whose beauty is visible only to you**

Planes and Trains (Passing By)

Planes and trains–

we all use you to get around,

you go all the way round,

but you’re so much more

than transport.

You’re beauty on the rails and in the sky–

you enable us to live our lives,

to see our families, travel for work,

usually within your financial worth.

You take off–

I have no idea where you go,

what adventure you’re off to,

but I love seeing planes fly

and trains pass by,

sometimes at the same time

when I’m at Wolli Creek.

If only I could take a peek,

at the passengers and wonder what they seek (through you).

Planes and trains–

we all use you to get around,

you go all the way round,

but you’re beautiful beyond and so much more

than ordinary transport.
