John Marsden Writing Topic #347

Describe a zoo in which there are cages for the abstract: e.g. for hatred, for the wind**

Mental Jungle

We’re going to the zoo today!

We’re going to the zoo today!

What are we going to see?

It’s not an ordinary zoo you see?

The animals aren’t the ones on show:

no lions, lemurs or chimpanzees,

it’s not a zoo of the wild,

it’s a zoo of the mind!

It’s a zoo with cages of the emotions and fears you know,

it’s a zoo just for you.

For me it’s a zoo:

with a house on fire,

with the grim reaper,

a violent partner,

no partner at all,

mice, bad health

and an empty life.

Don’t feed the fears!

Don’t touch just look!

It’s a zoo,

not life,

at the end of the day,

you’ll be out of here!
