John Marsden Writing Topic #366
Write about a memorable piece of writing you once did**
So What Do You Do?
This is a column I wrote when I was seventeen years old specifically for Dolly Magazine. By that point in time I had been a loyal reader for years and the Magazine were asking for contributions from readers for their DollyYou section.
As I was halfway through my HSC, making decisions for my future and people constantly asking me what my decisions were, was constantly on my mind. I thought a column about my feelings towards these decisions and people asking about them due to where I was in life at that time, would be perfect for Dolly. I wrote the column, sent it through to the editor and it was published, although I was disappointed by how much the editor cut it down and re-wrote it.
This piece is memorable for me as it was my first piece of writing that was published in a major national publication.

My column was published in the January 2008 issue of Dolly Magazine, it is on the left hand side of the page.
