John Marsden Writing Topic #37
What I like and dislike about being Australian (or other nationalities, if appropriate)**
What I like about being Australian is that I am fortunate enough to live in a first-world country where I am not stopped from living my life because of my gender, I am not living in fear of terrorist attacks as if they are part of a normal day, where I have accessible health care and clean water. I also like being Australian as it is where my ancestors have lived for many generations.
What I dislike about being Australian is more to do with the location of Australia in regards to the rest of the countries and continents. What I dislike is that Australia is almost a day-long flight away from Europe and sometimes more than a day from the US. What I dislike about Australia is that we are usually last to receive new episodes of TV shows, new movies and new DVDs. Very superficial I know but I can’t think of anything else that I dislike about being Australian.
