What are your views on punishment?**
I think punishment is necessary as it teaches people that there are consequences to their (bad) actions or choices, however the punishment has to fit the crime. A punishment has to be neither too light nor too severe.
When I read news articles on magistrates’ and judges’ decisions on punishments for criminals, more often than not I don’t think that they’re being severe enough.
