John Marsden Writing Topic #102

‘Everyone thinks of changing humanity and no-one thinks of changing himself’ (Leo Tolstoy)**

My interpretation of this quote is that everyone feels certain outrages towards flaws in society–homelessness, crime, abortion, wrongdoings, the class differences between the rich and poor, etc. When everyone feels these outrages, they want and expect society to change all on its own, however they don’t consider that society only changes when each individual living in the society makes the decision to change and takes action.
