John Marsden Writing Topic #67

Which kid in the family is it best to be? The oldest? The youngest? Second? Third? Fourth? Tenth? The only one?**

I only know what it’s like to be the second and youngest child, so I’ll say that is the best. I think its best as my parents were slightly more relaxed around me as opposed to my older brother. As the first child, my older brother was the child my parents learned everything from. As the second and the youngest they were more relaxed as they had ‘been there and done that’ and I kind of got away with a bit more. Also as the youngest of one generation in my family (the youngest of 10 cousins), I have the advantage of learning lessons from my cousin’s and my brother’s experiences and perhaps stopping myself from making mistakes and getting through certain stages of life a lot faster than my cousins and brothers did.
