Mother’s Day Classic 2019—Adelaide (SA)
On Sunday 12 May 2019, I completed the SA and final leg of my Fun Walking (not Running) Tour, by participating in the Mother’s Day Classic 2019 in Adelaide.
According to their official website, the Mother’s Day Classic is “an annual fun run and walk raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research. Their aim is to deliver a fun, healthy and inspirational community event that brings the community together on Mother’s Day to support and remember those touched by breast cancer.” The Mother’s Day Classic was established in 1998 by Women in Super, a national network of women who work in the superannuation and finance industries.
The Mother’s Day Classic 2019–Adelaide was held at Peace Park in North Adelaide. There were three distances: a 2.1km walk (which was new this year), a 4.5km walk and run, and a 7.4km walk and run. I chose to complete the 4.5km walk.
According to my Strava data, I completed the course in 50 mins and 50 seconds, although my data incorrectly reported the distance as 4.47km instead of 4.5km. I was happy with this time, especially finishing in under an hour.
