Year of the Fun Walk 2019–Run It In With 5 & Tokyo 2019 (February)
My second and third runs for my Year of the Fun Walk were Run It In With 5 and Tokyo 2019 respectively.
The Run It In With 5 was a virtual run challenge that involved completing 5km at a Parkrun in February. I completed this event at a Wagga Parkrun on 16 February with a time of 59 minutes and 19 seconds. It was my fourth Parkrun and my personal best.
The medal design for the Run It In With 5 is pop/superhero inspired and is part of a four-piece set. The Run It In With 5 supported CareFlight and LifeFlight Australia.
The Tokyo 2019 was a virtual run version of the Tokyo Marathon, the first of the World Marathon Majors. It was a virtual marathon (42.2km) to celebrate the Tokyo Marathon in your own way. To be honest, I didn’t plan on doing a virtual marathon as I found last month’s virtual half-marathon quite difficult to complete in a month. However I changed my mind as I at least wanted one virtual World Marathon Major to my name.
The Tokyo 2019 virtual marathon supported the Cure Brain Cancer Australia Foundation. After adding up all of the Strava data I compiled after completing each session to complete the virtual run, I’ve calculated that I completed my first ever virtual marathon in (approximately) 8 hours and 5 minutes.
