‘We Run the World’ virtual run
Last month I completed my second virtual run with Virtual Runs Australia.
This virtual run, ‘We Run the World’, was to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8 and to raise funds for Share the Dignity, a charity that distributes sanitary items to homeless and disadvantaged women.
I completed this virtual run as a 10 km triathlon (8km stationary bike ride, 2km walk, and a 200m swim—these distances were chosen from the TryaTri race at the Tri The Gong Festival). For this particular virtual run and how much it meant to me as a woman, I felt the need to step up my game.
I completed the 8km stationary bike ride in 37 minutes and 40 seconds, the 2km walk in 24 minutes and 2 seconds, and the 200m swim in 10 minutes and 32 seconds—which adds up to a total of 72 minutes and 14 seconds.
Overall I enjoyed doing a virtual run in a multi-sport form, I plan on completing my next virtual run as a duathlon (walk/bike/walk). I’m not sure when my next virtual run will be as the good people at Virtual Runs Australia have stated on their website that they’re taking a break this month. I’m hoping I’ll find other sports or multi-sports to be able to complete as part of my virtual runs.
