John Marsden Writing Topic #197
The note that breaks the silence**
I got his letter two weeks ago.
I wasn’t expecting it, he dumped me three years ago and we haven’t spoken since. While he wrote in great detail why he decided to reach out, I still really didn’t understand why. It’s been three years! He dumped me, he wanted me out of his life! Why now!?
Yes the letter angered be because he hurt me so much but the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of having him in my life again. Then I felt disappointed in myself for considering that possibility after all the pain and the time it took for me to move on from it.
I never stopped loving him…I think that’s why I was in so much pain and why it took me so long to move on.
I can see him inside the cafe waiting for me, I’m not sure if he can see me. I don’t know what will happen, whether we will get back together, become friends again or whether he’ll just tell me he hates me.
All I can do now is put the letter back in my pocket, take a deep breath and open the door.
