John Marsden Writing Topic #389

“The line is so thin between ‘I love you’ and ‘I hate you’.” Write about a time when you crossed that line**

I don’t actually hate people, I think hatred is a waste of an emotion. When you dislike someone it’s like a reflex–it’s instantaneous and you can’t help it–hatred is the most negative emotion in the world and it requires effort. That being said, the closest I’ve ever come was four and five years ago when my grandfathers passed away and there were issues with certain family members in regards to wills and estates. One side of my family and a few family members on the other side turned against my parents, with one relative also feeling the need to zero in on me.

Those relatives are not part of our lives anymore, I don’t hate them but I can’t say that I feel much love for them anymore either.
