From Writing Topic #131 until Writing Topic #149 are “based on a book”. The book I have chosen to focus on is Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern.

‘They chose to destroy because they did not understand.’ Is this true of some characters in this book?**

Alex & Rosie: While their relationship wasn’t destroyed, they did have a few fall outs. Alex’s anger towards Rosie not moving to Boston after her marriage breakdown and Rosie’s disapproval of Alex’s choice to marry Bethany led to them not talking to each other for over a year. I believe this particular rift between them, which almost destroyed their friendship is due to the fact that they did not understand each other’s choices at that time.

Alex & Sally and Alex & Bethany: While Alex’s marriages to Sally and then Bethany broke down for other reasons, the most obvious reason was Sally’s and Bethany’s jealousy towards the friendship between Alex & Rosie. I believe the marriage breakdowns were partly due to both Sally’s and Bethany’s lack of understanding towards Alex & Rosie’s friendship.
