Some boyfriends get their girlfriends jewellery, chocolates and any other cookie-cutter gifts for their birthdays. Sure they mean well, but it’s not really thoughtful to me.

I told my own boyfriend this and instead of arguing and contesting this idea, like all of my past boyfriends, he said “I’ll get you the most original, thoughtful gift in the world.”

And he did, for my birthday, I unwrapped his present to find a vintage radio. When our baby was born and we all had trouble sleeping, listening to the radio would put us out like a light.

I love that man!
