This episode wasn’t as action packed as last week’s, in fact I’d describe as being more about brains than brawn. This episode picks up where the last episode left off, with Hyde and Claire taking Jamil into the police station for questioning. I liked the contrast between Hyde’s and Claire’s methods of interrogation, with the latter actually getting answers with
Read moreTo me this episode was emotional, not for me, but for the characters. We get off to a fast-paced, dramatic start, going back and forth between the two major plots–Hugh’s IED-trapped patient, Jai, and Charlie’s ectopic pregnancy. The sequence with Hugh trying to rescue and treat his patient in the middle of a minefield was equal parts frustrating and intense.
Read moreThis episode for me was a definite improvement from last week, I’m hoping this rollercoaster ride of great and mediocre episodes stops at some point and some consistency comes along. In my review of last week’s episode, I said I could sum up the episodes in one word, this episode I can sum up in three–melodramatic and mundane. I thought
Read moreSo far, I can sum up each episode in one word. Pilot–flat, episode two–spectacular, episode 3–humorous. This episode wasn’t as spectacular as last week’s, however it was definitely better than the pilot. I felt that this episode was more outside the box and that the characters were allowed to be human and show their humorous and light hearted qualities. I
Read moreIn my review of the pilot, I stated that the premise of the show felt cliche and the pilot was flat overall. This episode completely took care of those problems. The episode got off to an unconventional but humorous start with Hugh consulting with one of his city friends about a heart surgery over a video call and subsequently giving
Read moreThis episode did its job as Doctor Doctor‘s pilot–it established the show’s premise, its characters and a few future plots. I felt that the premise of an arrogant city man who screws up and is forced to go home to his family to live out the consequences, was cliche. However Rodger Corser portrays Dr Hugh Knight perfectly, especially with his
Read moreI didn’t know what to expect from Hyde & Seek, my impression from the trailer was that Detective Gary Hyde (Matt Nable) was corrupt. The trailer is obviously meant to mislead and they did with Hyde, however it didn’t mislead on how much of a thriller Hyde & Seek would be. The action is set off within the first five
Read moreI didn’t know what to expect from The Secret Daughter, other than what I saw in the trailers. The premiere episode could have been better, however overall it didn’t disappoint. I’ve always found Jessica Mauboy fabulous, however I do question whether her incredible singing abilities are relied on too much in her acting gigs. I’d rather see more of her
Read moreNow that the pilot has done its job, the series can continue with plot and character development. This episode did a great job with the latter. Again the episode starts in media res, I really hope that they stop using this technique to revolve the writing around, it’s cliche and gets tired quickly in short seasons, I felt the same
