After six years, I finally hit the 500 completed writing topics mark in my John Marsden 600 Writing Topics challenge.

Just like when I hit the previous milestones, I wanted to publish a blog post to record my progress and also record the fact that I’m on the home stretch with 100 writing topics left to complete.

As I stated in my introductory blog post to this challenge, the writing topics are split into the following categories:

Topics 1-93: Quickies

Topics 94-130: Discursive

Topics 131-149: Based on a Book

Topics 150-307: Topics for Short Stories

Topics 308-357: Poetry

Topics 358-501: Personal

Topics 502-521: Limits

Topics 522-585: Developing Skills

Topics 586-600: Letters

To get myself from the 400 completed writing topics mark to the 500 completed writing topics mark, I completed: 67 Topics for Short Stories, 9 Poetry writing topics, 1 Limits writing topic, and 23 Developing Skills writing topics.

The last 100 writing topics I have left to complete are: 1 Quickies topic, 43 Topics for Short Stories, 19 Poetry topics, 2 Personal topics, 30 Developing Skills topics, and 5 Letters topics.

I started this Challenge on September 2, 2015 and my goal is to finish it either before or on September 2, 2025. I honestly didn’t expect to be still working my way through this Challenge almost ten years after I started, however finishing it either on or before the 10-year mark will be a nice way to bring it to a close.
