Angel Kisses Virtual Run
In August, I set myself the challenge of completing a virtual marathon, specifically the Angel Kisses Virtual Run.
Australian virtual fun running site, Heart & Soles Running, hosted the event. The difference between this virtual marathon and previous virtual marathons I have completed is that the goal was to complete a specific weekly distance: 10km per week, 20km per week or 40km per week. I choose 10km per week, which equated to 40km in the month (I call it a marathon, however it technically isn’t as it falls 2.2km short of a marathon). This run was held all August (August 1-31 2020).
This virtual run raised money for Bears of Hope, a charity that provides ongoing comfort, support and counselling to parents and families who have experienced the loss of a baby during pregnancy, birth and infancy. One of the many things they’re known for is facilitating the donation of a Bear of Hope to families who have lost their baby by another bereaved family. Their website states that this allows the donating family to give their child’s brief life a purpose and lasting legacy, whilst filling the empty arms of another family as they walk out of the hospital without their baby.
I completed this run mostly on the treadmills at my gym, as well as on a local walking track on a few occasions. My data and a picture of the medal for this virtual run can be found below.
