Write a letter to your parent/s, thanking them for something**

Dear Mum & Dad,

I know we talk on the phone almost all the time and I already said thank you a bunch of times, but I also wanted to do it in writing.

I wanted to thank you for giving me money a couple of months ago to help me with the move into my new unit. I actually knew I’d be needing it, but tried to deny it, I was too proud. It’s not that I didn’t appreciate your willingness to help me out, of course I did, but I just felt that since I’m an adult and work full-time that I shouldn’t be asking my parents for money anymore. I felt this way because you spent probably $40,000 in rent on my student accommodation when I was at uni.

The money really helped me with paying the cleaners and the last bit of rent at my old unit. Those last few weeks taught me one important thing…to save more money so I’m not in this situation again. I really am trying my best to save money, but it’s harder than I thought. I thought finishing uni, working full-time and having a decent regular income would make it easier. The truth is that I didn’t know how hard it actually is to pay rent, pay bills and save money, when you’re single and alone.

I’m getting back on track with my saving goals, but it’s all going way too slow for my liking. I’m hoping about 10 or 15 years from now, I’ve managed to get my financial shit together and save a heap of money so I can buy a house. Even though it’s only my second rental unit, I’m getting sick of renting already.

Anyway, I think that covers it, thank you again for giving me the money and a helping hand, I really appreciate it.

Love Rach xxoo
