Disney Era Analysis – The Post-Renaissance Era
Now that I’ve finished reviewing and analysing Disney’s Renaissance Era, the next era I will be exploring is the Post-Renaissance Era.
There has been debate about exactly when the Post-Renaissance Era concluded and which films close out the Era. However, based on my research and for the sake of this series, I’m defining the Post-Renaissance Era as consisting of the following eleven animated feature films, which spanned from 1999 to 2008.
- Fantasia 2000
- Dinosaur
- The Emperor’s New Groove
- Atlantis: The Lost Empire
- Lilo & Stitch
- Treasure Planet
- Brother Bear
- Home on the Range
- Chicken Little
- Meet the Robinsons
- Bolt
The Post-Renaissance Era (also referred to as Disney’s Second Dark/Bronze Age and Experimental Era) is known for its experimentation with both computer-generated (CG) animation (and alternating between traditional hand-drawn and CG animation), and its experimentation with storytelling.
The Post-Renaissance Era ended with Bolt in 2008, with the Revival Era kicking off the following year with The Princess and the Frog.
