The Last Hurrah (Part I)
It was the third bachelor party at work this week, but it was the first time I’ve ever seen a bride show up and fight with her groom.
The bride argued with her groom about the party itself, apparently they weren’t going to have bachelor and bachelorette parties, and her shock at him being here was obvious. He told her that his groomsmen surprised him and what else was he going to do, say no? She said he should have, and that strip clubs objectify women, and how can they get married if she can’t trust him. He told her that he didn’t tell her, because again it was a surprise, that the women choose to work here, and that she clearly doesn’t trust him otherwise she wouldn’t be here, and that maybe they shouldn’t get married.
Normally I roll my eyes at the men here and hold my tongue, until I clock out and tell my girlfriends all about the pathetic, creepy men that frequent the club, but this time, I agreed with him.
It’s not his fault that his groomsmen surprised him and he couldn’t say no if he didn’t know it was coming. The women who work here choose to be here, and from my experience working here, they are no victims, in fact they use the objectification in their favour to get massive tips. And how can they get married, if she clearly doesn’t trust him. She’s lucky to have him.
I didn’t end up seeing or hearing the rest of the argument, as other customers/nosey bystanders were blocking my view, and I had to move on to waiting on another table. If they do get married, I give it six months.
