Fisk – Season 3, Episode 3 (I’m the Fisk)
We’ve reached the halfway point of the season and in all honesty, this episode was a bit of a disappointment.
The episode kicks off with the reveal that Lily has quit reception as she found working for Roz too boring, this leads to Ray suggesting that Roz hire Mel’s son as a replacement. This immediately proves to be a disaster, as her son, whose name is actually Bubby, is hopeless, rude, alienates everyone in the office, and fulfills the most negative millennial stereotype you could expect. After alienating everyone, Roz uses Helen to give her a list of grievances she has against Bubby, to use as a reason to fire him.
Meanwhile, Helen helps Melcome, the owner of wellness café, Blendology, with regaining his inheritance from his father, after his father’s carer, Vicky, had the will changed so she would inherit everything. It’s revealed that Blendology shut down after a disaster with their soup range, which involved recurring character, Anne, causing a scene. Helen eventually and admittedly, easily, proves that Melcome’s father was tricked by Vicky into altering his will, however Melcome ends up splitting the inheritance with Vicky anyway, much to Helen’s chagrin.
Throughout the episode, Mel is trying to get her “socks for sandals” line off the ground, which provides the comfort of a sock without ruining the look of an open-toed sandal. Whilst Ray doesn’t understand it, at the end of the episode, it’s revealed that they have gone viral and Mel’s company’s stock prices have skyrocketed due to their success.
As I mentioned at the start of this review, this episode was a bit of a disappointment. I feel this way as two annoying characters were put front-and-centre (Bubby and Melcome), and I found the “sock for sandals” subplot a little silly. Whilst I enjoyed seeing Helen work and kick arse, I found her win a little too easy and predictable.
Stray Observations:
Episode title – Helen explaining to Bubby who she is and that she is a partner of the firm.
-Lily runs a craft club for special needs people, which Helen joined on Ray’s advice earlier in the season to join clubs to network.
-According to Helen, she hasn’t changed anything since 1997.
Best one liners and interactions:
- “Are you saying Bobby or Bubby? And is that Robert or Rubbert?” (Roz to Bubby on his name)
