TV Week 2024 Previews
Before addressing the Previews edition, I wanted to address these TV shows and web series I’ve already reviewed/been reviewing.
After the Verdict is one of the newest shows I’ve reviewed, with its first season airing in 2022. I haven’t heard any news on whether it’s been renewed for a second season and it wasn’t included in this year’s Previews edition.
I reviewed the second season of Aftertaste in 2022, however it wasn’t included in this year’s Previews edition and there’s been no news on whether it’s been renewed.
U.S. series, Almost Family (which is a remake of the Australian series, Sisters), was cancelled after one season. Sisters was also cancelled after airing one season.
Amazing Grace was cancelled after one season.
Bad Mothers aired their first and so far only season in 2019, there’s been no news of its renewal or cancellation, however since it has been four years since the first season aired, it’s unlikely that there will be another one. The same can be said for Bite Club, with one season of the show airing in 2018 with no news of its renewal or cancellation, but no episodes have aired since either.
The Charmed (Reboot) aired its fourth and final season in 2022 and Doctor Doctor also concluded in 2021.

I reviewed Fisk’s second season in 2022 and it was included in this year’s Previews Edition, but only a paragraph was devoted to it:
“While probate lawyer Helen is getting used to being a partner at Gruber & Fisk and living in a place of her own, colleagues Ray is distracted by his new, mature girlfriend; Roz is having a mid-life crisis; and George is set to jump ship – but not too far.”
I’m happy that Fisk was renewed for a third season and I’m looking forward to watching and reviewing it.
Five Bedrooms aired its fourth season last year and it wasn’t featured in the Previews Edition. While I haven’t been able to find official news of its cancellation, in all honesty, the way the fourth season finale was written, it did feel like that season was its last.
Harrow aired its third season in 2021 and there’s been no news of its renewal or cancellation since.
Here Come the Habibs was cancelled after airing two seasons and House Husbands was cancelled after airing five seasons. How to Stay Married was cancelled after airing three seasons, Hyde & Seek was cancelled after airing one season, and Love Child was cancelled after airing four seasons.
U.S. series, Minx, was renewed for a second season by HBO Max in May 2022, only to be cancelled as the second season was in production, in December 2022. Thankfully, it was picked up by Starz in January last year, shortly after the second season’s production had wrapped. Sadly, Minx was also cancelled by Starz earlier this month.
Mr. Black aired one season in 2019 and no episodes have aired since, and there’s also been no news of the show’s cancellation or renewal. I reviewed Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries’ second season in 2022, however there’s been no news on whether it’s been renewed and it wasn’t included in the Previews edition.

Although it wasn’t featured in the Previews Edition, My Life Is Murder was renewed for an eight-episode fourth season, set to be released on Acorn TV.
According to TV Line, Season 4 of My Life Is Murder brings “eight new mysteries. Eight new worlds. Eight diabolical killers that only Alexa Crowe can catch. But this time, Alexa is bringing her friends and family along for the ride: Tech guru Madison is stepping up, contributing her considerable technical skills to Alexa’s investigations and the two of them have fallen into a comfortable mentor-mentee relationship. Though neither of them will ever agree on who is the mentor and who is the student.
“Cafe owner Reuben is stepping in, brother Will is staying close. Detective Harry has her back and cranky cat, Chowder, can’t help complicating everything.
“Emboldened by the changes in her life, ready to revisit demons of the past and excited to embrace her future, Alexa in Season 4 ‘is even more of a force, determined to reveal the most carefully hidden secrets that crack the most bewildering cases. And, somehow, she and her fabulous whanau (chosen family) still have a bunch of fun along the way. Let the Auckland adventures begin again.’”
I’m looking forward to seeing and reviewing the fourth season when it’s released.
Playing for Keeps was cancelled after airing two seasons.

RFDS was included in the Previews edition and I’m happy to see it’s been renewed for a third season, however only a small paragraph was devoted to it and provided a minor glimpse as to what the third season has in store, with Pete “ushering in a new chapter” after narrowly escaping losing his job, and a new baby “upends the life of Wayne and Mira. Will family life make them reconsider their high-flying careers?”
I’m looking forward to finding out the answer to that last question when I watch and review the third season when it eventually airs.
Sando was cancelled after airing one season in 2018 and the Seachange (Reboot) aired one season, with no news of its renewal or cancellation, but also no new episodes since 2019. U.S. series, Speechless, was cancelled after airing three seasons, and Squinters aired two seasons but hasn’t aired any episodes since, and there’s been no news of its renewal or cancellation. Street Smart was cancelled after airing one season.
Summer Love is one of the newest shows I’ve reviewed and it wasn’t mentioned in the Previews edition. This show was unique as it was an anthology series and because of this, I’d be surprised if it was renewed for a second season. U.S. series, The Good Place, ended after airing four seasons.

I was happy to read in the Previews Edition that The Newsreader was renewed for a third season with a small paragraph giving a hint of what’s in store:
“Season three will kick off with the 1989 TV Week Logie Awards…with Dale and Helen having parted ways, this season sees them in direct competition, against a backdrop of the Tiananmen Square massacre and…”
It seems the last sentence was cut off accidentally by the TV Week team. I have asked them to clarify the end of the blurb, I’ll let you know if they get back to me. I’m a little surprised that the writers decided to skip 1988 for the third season, nonetheless I’m looking forward to watching and reviewing the third season.
The Secret Daughter was cancelled after airing two seasons. The Time Traveler’s Wife was cancelled after airing only one season in 2022, which was a shame as I felt it had so much potential. While there’s been no official cancellation or renewal of The Wrong Girl, as one of its stars, Craig McLachlan, was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women, including one of The Wrong Girl co-stars, Christi Whelan Browne, and it’s been over five years since the second season aired, it’s highly unlikely to return.
I reviewed Upload’s third season last year, it wasn’t featured in the Previews Edition and I haven’t seen any news on whether it’s been renewed for a fourth season.
I’ve reviewed three web series so far: Lucy and DiC, Scrubs: Interns, and The Good Place Presents: The Selection. There will be a second season of Lucy and DiC that will be released at some point but I’m not sure when, however, Scrubs: Interns and The Good Place Presents: The Selection were one-off web series, and the original series that they were spin-offs of have ended.
In terms of new shows in the Previews edition, I found four shows that I’m interested in watching, possibly for reviewing:
- Fake
- Ladies in Black
- Human Error
- The Office Australia
Fake is a drama that will air on Paramount Plus and is an eight-part series that will star Asher Keddie as “magazine writer, Birdie Bell, who falls for well-off farmer, Joe Burt (David Wenham) after connecting on a dating app. But her dream romance is gradually revealed to be a nightmare.”
Ladies in Black is a period drama that will air on ABC and stars Miranda Otto, Jessica De Gouw and Debi Mazar. The six-part drama is set in an upmarket Sydney department store in the early 1960s and begins six months after the events of the 2018 movie by the same name, which in turn was based on the 1993 novel, The Women in Black. The series is a story of “female friendship, with a backdrop of high fashion.”

Human Error was actually featured in last year’s Previews Edition but didn’t air for some unknown reason. In this year’s Previews Edition, the crime drama’s blurb focused on its main character, Holly O’Rourke, a detective “whose life starts to fall apart when she investigates the murder of a suburban mum.”
The Office Australia is an Australian remake of both the UK and US series of the same name. Felicity Ward stars as Hannah Howard, the managing director of packaging company, Flinley Craddick. When Hannah gets news from Head Office that they’ll be shutting down her branch and making everyone work from home, Hannah “goes into survival mode, making promises she can’t keep in order to keep her ’work family’ together.” Ricky Gervais, the creator of the original UK series, said to TV Week, “office politics have changed a bit in 20 years, so I can’t wait to see how they navigate a modern-day David Brent (the character Gervais played).”
I am looking forward to watching and reviewing new seasons of the shows I’ve reviewed, as well as checking out and possibly reviewing new shows.
