Cold Feet
Why did he have to propose?
I had an inkling that he was up to something, I mean he’s been up to a lot of things lately – quitting his high-paying corporate job to “have a life” which has only amounted to getting high, eating, playing the guitar and trying to write songs all day. When I say “songs,” I mean attempted riddles to an out-of-tune guitar.
Loving him has been a lot harder these days, he is not the man I fell in love with, and I don’t know if I’m ready to accept this ‘new Ryan,’ although he made it clear the last time I called him this that he didn’t like that label. When I met him at work, he was strong, assertive, powerful, charismatic and he taught me to become the same way. It was these lessons that enabled me to go from minimum wage and bottom of the pecking order, to the top of the proverbial corporate ladder.
I’m reaching my limit, my patience is wearing thin, at what point do I say enough is enough? He proposed with a mood ring for fuck’s sake!
The ring has just changed from amber to black. I know what black means, I know what I have to do.
