New Analysis Series – Pixar animated feature films and their film making eras

As I was starting my Disney Era Analysis series on their animated feature films and their film making eras, I started thinking about Pixar’s animated feature films and whether they had similar film making eras to Disney, as Disney’s and Pixar’s animated feature films are sometimes viewed as one-in-the-same, especially after Disney purchased Pixar in 2006.

So, to accompany my Disney Era Analysis series, today I’m launching my Pixar Era Analysis series, focusing on their animated feature films and their film making eras. Again, this content series is a bit of a self-indulgent project as I have seen some of Pixar’s animated feature films and loved them, but I haven’t seen them all, let alone all of them in order. When I was doing my research, I was surprised to discover that Pixar have only released 28 animated feature films in total. I knew the number would be smaller than Disney’s 61, but I didn’t think it would be that low either. I was also surprised to discover that I’ve seen more Pixar animated feature films than I have Disney animated feature films.

Pixar’s film making eras aren’t as well defined or agreed upon as Disney’s film making eras. However, for the purposes of this Analysis series, I’m going to be analysing Pixar’s film making eras as defined by Modern Mouse.
