Behind the Reviews – Edition #4 (Bite Club)
Bite Club premiered on 15 August 2018. The 2018 TV Week Previews Edition stated that Bite Club will revolve around “two detectives (Dan and Zoe) who fall victim to a shark attack, they survive but have to deal with massive psychological repercussions, and later work together to hunt down a serial killer.”
As you can see with the trailer above, the serial killer is pretty much given away. Not only is the killer revealed in the promo, but the writers revealed it in the pilot to be Stephen, (Dominic Monaghan). As well as the serial killer story arc, there was also a different case of the week in each episode. Some cases were more compelling than others. Again, this TV show was based on a limited premise, once the serial killer was revealed to the viewers, discovered by the characters, and justice was served, there was nowhere else for the show to go.
As the serial killer was revealed in the pilot, the question throughout the season was how he was going to be caught by the others. In the finale, each character discovers Stephen is the killer one-by-one.
Dan realises Stephen is the killer after interviewing a murder victim’s neighbour, Zoe finds out after a friend of hers went on a date with him and he bit her, matching his bite marks to other murder victims, Amber finds one of the murder victims’ teeth in the bottom of Stephen’s toilet bowl, and Kristoff didn’t so much find out but he knew about Stephen’s propensity for biting people through their sessions. As well as each of the main characters finding out one-by-one, Stephen eventually found out how each character was closing in on him.
I couldn’t find any news on whether Bite Club was renewed for a second season, however as it has been almost four years since the first season aired, I’d say it’s highly unlikely.
Behind the Reviews – Edition #5 will be released next week and will focus on Charmed (Reboot).
