The Good Place – Season 3, Episode 6 (The Ballad of Donkey Doug)
This episode has the Soul Squad on its first mission – helping Donkey Doug and Pillboi become better people.
Tahani, Jason and Michael go to Jacksonville to help Donkey Doug and Pillboi, while Chidi, Eleanor and Janet stay behind in Australia. Tahani, Jason and Michael decide to help Donkey Doug, who is revealed to be Jason’s father, by getting him to finish his electrician training and get his licence, so he can earn an honest living. When they arrive at Donkey Doug’s apartment, he is high, and he and Pillboi tell them about their latest get-rich-quick scheme, which involves a combination energy drink and body spray, but they’d have to steal the materials to make it.
When Michael tells Jason that Donkey Doug is a lost cause, Jason suggests that they try to help Pillboi instead. Jason takes Pillboi’s place at a factory robbery where Donkey Doug distracts the police so Jason won’t get caught, while Tahani and Michael convince Pillboi to continue working at the nursing home and not commit any crimes. Pillboi and Jason tearfully say their goodbyes.
Meanwhile, Chidi has been fired after his chilli-candy incident and decides that he has to break up with Simone to avoid destroying her chances of getting into the Good Place. Janet creates a simulator for him to practice breaking up with her. After Chidi practices multiple times, Eleanor tells him that he needs to actually talk to Simone. The break-up goes badly, however Eleanor tells him to talk to Simone again after telling him that break-ups are always bad for both parties. He talks to Simone again, apologising, and they break-up amicably.
The Soul Squad reunite two days later in Budapest, where their next mission is to help Tahani’s sister, Kamila, who is opening her museum exhibit the next day. At the airport, Janet and Michael reveal to Eleanor that her mother faked her death and is still alive.
Overall I felt that this was a good episode as it provided more insight into Jason and his family. I also found the break-up simulations hilarious, it will be interesting to see where we go from here with Tahani reuniting with Kamila, and Eleanor facing her mother.

-Tahani is friends with Sting.
-Donkey Doug was banned from Disney World after biting a Buzz Lightyear.
-Janet is doing her own ‘bings’ now.
-Janet’s simulator has Tetris.
-Chidi tries multiple simulations, which include: telling Simone he’s dying, telling her he doesn’t love her anymore, telling her he’s an FBI agent, proposing to her, and even one where Simone breaks up with him (although that one turned out to be a prank by Eleanor).
