After completing my Fun Walking Not Running Tour around Australia, I was inspired to do a global tour.

My plan was to at least start in Queenstown, New Zealand, in November this year, if not my native Australia before that, and try to do at least one run in each continent (including Antarctica if I could find one). However the COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to that, and travel altogether.

To maintain my fitness and motivation, I decided to do a Fun Walking Not Running Around the World (Virtual Tour).

Much like the world tour I initially planned, I am planning on trying to do a virtual run in every continent (if I can). Luckily, Virtual Run Events have virtual world races covering plenty of countries. I also got inspiration for the locations I’ve chosen for this virtual tour from the Pixar movie, Planes, which is about anthropomorphic planes taking place in an around-the-world race. The race in the movie was called Wings Around the Globe, and took place across three continents (New York-Iceland, Iceland-Germany, Germany-India, India-Nepal, Nepal-China, China-Mexico, Mexico-New York).

So far I’ve signed up to five virtual world races:

• USA (North America)
• Colombia (South America)
• Morocco (Africa)
• Switzerland (Europe)
• Thailand (Asia)

I’m yet to sign up to an Australian/New Zealand/Oceania and Antarctica virtual run, but I hope to soon. I’m not necessarily going to limit myself to one per continent, but I felt it was a good place to start since it was my original goal with the “real life” world tour.
